Patient Safety

<prTag> assures accuracy and safety

The practice of good clinical medicine is very information intensive.  In order to ensure the best outcomes, healthcare providers need access to comprehensive, up-to-date and correct information on each patient they treat.  Medical automation systems such as electronic health records, laboratory reporting systems and radiology systems can play a critical role in making the right information available to support a caregiver's actions.

Interoperability and safety

Today’s patient typically encounters many healthcare providers using varied information systems.  It is critical that information across all these systems is linked accurately to the correct patient.  Patient safety is severely compromised if data is linked to the wrong patient.  Accurate identification is the foundation on which interoperability can be achieved.

Interoperability and privacy

It is clear that in order to accurately inform caregivers, we must do interoperability right.  But many will argue that if healthcare does interoperability right then privacy will suffer.

What does GPII offer?

At GPII we contend that interoperability is needed to ensure the best possible care for the patient.  However, we also contend that this must not require the sacrifice of patient privacy - there must be a balance.

GPII provides a solution for the accurate linkage of clinical data across medical information “silos” located in many healthcare organizations. Errors in linking healthcare records to patients are eliminated.

When physicians are treating you the last thing they should have to worry about is whether the information they are viewing is accurate.
